Comment peut-on interpréter la nature de son environnement?

Au moment où cela se révèle est une méditation sur la manière dont l’artiste recherche—et capture—l’essence de son environnement immédiat.  L’exposition présente une riche sélection d’acquisitions récentes de la collection permanente du Musée d’art MacKenzie. Couvrant les cinq dernières années, elles montrent diverses façons d’aborder la nature, le paysage et l’environnement bâti.

Les œuvres rassemblées dans l’exposition racontent comment le sublime peut se trouver dans des actes de contemplation. Elles dépeignent des méditations artistiques sur les choses, les êtres, les paysages, les sentiments et les phénomènes, révélant notre désir inné d’établir des liens avec un monde qui n’est ni totalement réel ni totalement imaginé. S’exprimant par les langages de l’abstraction, du symbole et de la représentation, les artistes nous ouvrent les yeux sur des expériences qui sont au-delà de la limitation et du confinement de notre être physique. Attardez-vous un peu plus longtemps sur chaque œuvre, regardez-la un peu plus attentivement, imprégnez-vous des moments et des lieux et découvrez comment les artistes ont révélé leurs expériences dans les œuvres présentées ici.
