For Immediate Release: Wednesday, 6 November, 2019 – On Friday, 1 November, the MacKenzie Art Gallery hosted their annual Gala and Live Art Auction, raising essential funds for the Gallery’s programming and exhibitions. This year, with exciting new additions to the event, the Gala netted over $90,000.

“This Friday marked the 21st year of our annual Gala and it was the best!” says Executive Director and CEO of the MacKenzie Art Gallery, Anthony Kiendl. “I want to thank all of the artists who donated their time and their work to make the event such a success, and our incredible sponsors, including our presenting sponsor ISC. The Gala would not be possible without their very generous support.”

The MacKenzie Gala is a high point in Regina’s busy social season – and this year, over 300 of the gallery’s most ardent supporters come together to celebrate one of Canada’s most beloved art galleries.

“Thanks to the wonderful support of our artists and the business community in the city, we were able to create an immersive, interactive experience inside of our Gallery spaces,” says Brittany Yang, Director of Development at the MacKenzie Art Gallery. “I would also like to acknowledge our fantastic Gala Chair, Mary Ference. She, along with our entire gala committee, realized our goal of having the Gala be more than a fundraiser, for our guests to have transformative experiences with art. The overwhelming support we receive is invaluable in creating this experience.”

On Friday, guests had the chance to bid on artwork by some of Canada’s leading contemporary artists during the Gallery’s Live Auction. The MacKenzie Art Gallery’s Gala would not happen without the generous support from our artists. Their donation and support are integral to the success of the gala. This year’s contributors include: Mitchel Wiebe, Victor Cicansky, Gabriela Garcia-Luna, Jan Corcoran, Anne Brochu Lambert, Bill Lobchuk, David Thauberger, Brenda Francis Pelkey, and David Garneau.

The Gallery would like to extend a thank you to all of the sponsors of the 2019 MacKenzie Gala: presenting sponsor ISC; supporting sponsor MLT Aikins; our anonymous artist sponsor; Bill & Gaye Taylor; champagne sponsor 1080 Architecture Planning + Interiors; Safe Ride Home Sponsor Maaco; Susan Whitney Art Appraisals; Appetizer Sponsor Craft Services; Social Sponsor Link Developments; Video Sponsor Stratlab; Print Sponsor Impact Printers; and our event sponsors: Wascana Flower Shoppe, ProAV, Don Hall Photography, Olson Goldsmiths, Charton Hobbs, Special Event Rentals, Avenue Restaurant, and Sleek Signs.

Signature cocktails were crafted by Avenue Restaurant’s Christopher Cho.

Be sure to save the date for next year’s Gala being held on Friday, 16 October, 2020.
