Current grade 7/8 students of any background or skill level who are self-motivated with a genuine desire to learn about art are welcome to apply! Space is limited to 10 students per class.

Through this class, we will investigate artistic concepts and creative problem solving through character design, video game modeling, introduction to coding, storytelling for virtual environments, and traditional art practice. With over 5000 works of art in our permanent collection, we’ll be applying visual art techniques and styles to all sessions. They will be led by our art instructors and new digital media experts and include Indigenous storytellers and artists from all genres.

In this introductory course, you will learn:

  • how to develop a story or theme for a game concept
  • essential techniques when creating an avatar
  • some fundamentals steps of coding and creating machinima
