Two women with long brown hair sit in a circular pool of dark water surrounded by yellow flowers and green plants. Pink, brain-like objects float between them. Both women have pale skin and serious expressions.

A small, modern door with a glass window is set into a rocky, cave-like wall, illuminated by a beam of sunlight. Pipes run along the walls and a pool of glowing red liquid covers the cave floor.

Experience Digital Art Projects Norval Morrisseau: Storylines

Norval Morrisseau: Storylines

A vibrant, colorful painting features people in a canoe and a bird-shaped airplane soaring above. Fish swim below in a river. On the right, more individuals, trees with flowers, and a red car in a yellow field under a blue sky evoke Norval Morrisseau storylines.

Norval Morrisseau: Storylines is an interactive online publication dedicated to the life, art, and cultural legacy of Anishinaabe painter Norval Morrisseau (1932–2007). It is co-produced by the MacKenzie Art Gallery and Carleton University to share the incredible research and resources assembled by the Morrisseau Project team, comprised of a diverse group of Indigenous and non-Indigenous experts and partner institutions.

View over 150 of Morrisseau’s most impactful works of art, many in high resolution, alongside rare video, audio, an interactive map, Anishinaabemowin glossary, and new research spanning across twenty-five themed modules.

Norval Morrisseau: Storylines is an online-only publication and is not a physical exhibition.
