Sabine Wecker

Sabine Wecker was educated in Germany in the ceramic craft, and after a twenty-year break dove back into clay at the University of Regina completing a BFA in Visual Arts /Fine Arts with Great Distinction in 2021 and a MFA in Visual Arts / Fine Arts in 2024. She is a ceramic artist working in the sculptural as well as functional field of clay. Both fields influence and inform each other in the process of making as well as their formal language and surface treatments. On the functional side she developed a series of objects for the garden, to enhance outside living spaces and beautifully complement the natural spaces we live in. That is also true for the pieces that are meant to be inside. The focus with those pieces goes beyond the function of tableware. They are meant to enrich the table and the rituals of everyday living. Objects like vases, candle holders or four-season wheels are especially useful during the winter season rituals.
Wecker is mainly working with stoneware or porcelain using wheel throwing and slab building techniques. Her favourite firing techniques are high fires in atmospheric kilns like gas, soda or wood.
Wecker is a big advocate for the importance of skills and design education as a foundation in the craft sector.

A Canvas for the Cosmos

Homegrown here in Saskatchewan, I learned to paint wildlife from my mum growing up. I upcycle used saw blades and old vinyl records, using acrylics to add local Canadian wildlife. I also hand-paint wildlife onto stones and glass to produce unique jewelry pieces.

Vanessa Anderson Artwork

Vanessa Anderson is a Canadian oil painter creating representational landscapes that balance fine detail with expressive brushwork. Her work is inspired by scenes from Saskatchewan that evoke a sense of awe, peace, or reflection. Vanessa’s process begins with her own photography and evolves through tonal underpainting and layered oil techniques using texture and glazing. Visitors to her booth can expect paintings that explore light, emotion, and the beauty of the created world.

Skstormchaser Photography

I have always had a passion for a good prairie storm, as a kid, I can remember every time there was a thunderstorm, I would stare out the window hoping to catch a glimpse of a bolt of lightning, then the count of a thousand and one, a thousand and two would start up as I awaited the rumble of the thunder to arrive finally. Fast forward to 2012, after watching numerous storm and tornado-related videos and hearing about the tornadoes that seemed to be popping up all over Saskatchewan that summer. I made the decision that I would become a storm chaser, yep, just like that. On my very first storm chase, I was fortunate to chase a storm for about 5 hours, seeing one of the most incredible storms of the year, and seeing my very first Tornado, yeppers, beginner’s luck for sure. After the chase, I was super excited to see my pictures and video. I must admit that I was slightly disappointed with the results. At this point, I headed out and began investing in better equipment, including cameras, lenses, tripods, and a radar app. I was determined not to repeat the disappointment in the quality of photos I took on that very first storm chase. I have invested many hours in learning my camera settings and techniques, in an effort to provide some of the most stunning Storm and Scenery Photographs taken in Saskatchewan. From this passion for storm chasing and photography grew SkStormChaser Photography. I hope that my photographs can capture the pure power of a prairie storm as well as the beauty and tranquillity that the Saskatchewan landscape can present, and now be shared with the rest of the world through my photography. Brian Baggett Wood Craft

Brian Baggett is a lifelong musician who embraced a creative outlet of assembling hardwood boxes and related mosaic wood art. After a brief career in construction and remodelling, Brian began experimenting with hardwoods during down times from recording an album. Brian uses the global array of hardwood species and local woods as his colour palette, creating mosaics inspired by improvisational music and sound art. All of his box creations are in as natural of a state as possible: no color-altering oils or stains are used, and no hardware is attached. All boxes are unique, one of a kind and finished with Tung oil and a local beeswax mix. Brian Baggett Wood Craft began in 2016 and is based in Fort Qu’Appelle.

RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR VENDORS

Holiday Bazaart accepts applications from a wide range of established and emerging Canadian artists and craftspeople employing both traditional and experimental art forms. Artists interested in participating in Holiday Bazaart must submit a completed application form by Sunday, August 31, 2025. New artisans and returning artisans with updated product photos must electronically submit three high-quality images of work along with the application.
The MacKenzie is committed to maintaining a high standard of work at Holiday Bazaart and, therefore, reserves the right to decline applications.

All applications received by the MacKenzie Art Gallery before or on Sunday, August 31, 2025, will be accepted for consideration. Artists will be notified of their acceptance by email on Monday, September 22, 2025.

THIS WILL BE A JURIED SHOW:

Unlike the summer Bazaart, the available space for this show is limited. The MacKenzie has established a committee to carefully assess all participating Artisans. In order to provide a remarkable shopping experience for guests and ensure a successful show for exhibitors, the MacKenzie will strive for a balanced distribution of booths across different artistic mediums.

It is an expectation of the MacKenzie Art Gallery that the creation, sale, and marketing of your work reflect an understanding and adherence to CARFAC’s ‘Think Before You Appropriate’ guidelines, a tool to assist makers in ensuring that their designs are sensitive to issues of misappropriation. Please read the full guide here. If your project is Indigenous-led or is in collaboration with an Indigenous artist, we ask that you identify that information on your application. This information helps to ensure these guidelines are met during the adjudication process.

New this year: No payment is required to submit vendor applications. Once vendors are notified of acceptance on Monday, September 22, 2025, they will be issued a payment link and will have 7 days to complete the payment. Failure to pay their booth fees within the 7 days will result in their acceptance being voided and the next vendor on the waitlist being accepted in their place.

Regular Booth Fee: $275 for an 8’W x 10’D display area

Double Booth Fee: $400 for a 16’W x 10’D display area

All applications received by the MacKenzie Art Gallery before or on Sunday, August 31, 2025, will be accepted for consideration. Artists will be notified of their acceptance by email on Monday, September 22, 2025.

Artists accepted to participate in Holiday Bazaart are assigned one 8’ x 10’ display space or a 16’ x 10’ double booth. A 6 ft. table and 2 chairs are available upon request. Artists are responsible for their display set-up and take-down during the time allotted, and must supply their own display equipment, hanging supplies, etc. Artists are encouraged to have a sign clearly showing their name. Once the show is over, artists must be out of the building by 6:30 PM.

It is strongly recommended that artists provide their own lighting if required. Artists will not be permitted to move or refocus lighting within the event space.

Please ensure there are no sharp edges on grid walls, stands and tables. All boxes, equipment, stands, dollies, product, etc. are to be clean and free from debris before entering the MacKenzie Art Gallery. Artists must contact Holiday Bazaart’s Organizer if their artwork contains organic materials such as plants, dirt, fur, skin, wool, hair, quills, feathers, food, wood, found objects or materials that have been stored in garages or outdoors. These materials can carry insects which could potentially cause damage not only to the art works within the exhibition spaces but spread to other objects throughout the MacKenzie Art Gallery. The MacKenzie’s conservator will be happy to discuss required procedures around these materials with you.

*New wool and commercial feathers are less likely to carry insects, but please contact the Holiday Bazaart Organizer for any of the above materials. Failure to do may result in forfeiture of your Holiday Bazaart space without refund.*
