Getting from one place to another can be as simple as a straight line, but what about taking the scenic route?

Put your mark on the world by building a section of the train line to take visitors on a tour of the MacKenzie Art Gallery’s “Great Saskatchewan Landscape” server. Each participant will be given a section of track to design and build! Participants will learn how to construct a functional, powered rail line, and then will be set loose to create a ride experience of their choosing in this 3-part Minecraft workshop.

Maybe your section is a delirious roller coaster ride that climbs high into the clouds and then suddenly plummets to the earth or perhaps riders plunge into the molten core of the planet before returning to the surface. The possibilities are endless on The Exquisite Rail Line!

Workshop Facilitator: Benny Hi

Gamer, beekeeper and interdisciplinary artist Berny Hi is endlessly fascinated by nature and intangible aspects of the human experience. As he pursues an MFA in Interdisciplinary Studies, his current work revolves around a choose-your-own-adventure video game where players take on the role of a queen bee through her life cycle with the goal of creating sincere, magical connections that surpass our unique perception of time and space.

He finds that there is simply not enough time in a day.
