Transformative Landscapes: Contemplating Space, Time, and Connection

PUBLIC ART. RECONCILIATION. INTERCULTURAL RELATIONS. NATIONAL COMMEMORATION

As this year marks a time of transformation in which we contemplate the past, examine the present, and visualize the future, the MacKenzie Art Gallery launches Transformative Landscapes: Contemplating Space, Time and Connection. This programming series highlights the development and creation of a public artwork on the grounds of the MacKenzie, on Treaty Four Territory, in spring 2018. The project features leading Indigenous artists who will participate in workshops, screenings, panel discussions, and artist talks, exploring the themes of public art, reconciliation, intercultural relations, and national commemoration.

Comme cette année marque une période de transformation au cours de laquelle nous contemplons le passé, examinons le présent et visualisons l’avenir, le musée d’art MacKenzie en profite pour lancer Transformative Landscapes: Contemplating Space, Time and Connection. Cette série de programmes met l’accent sur l’élaboration et la création, au printemps 2018, d’une œuvre d’art public sur le site du musée qui se trouve sur les Terres autochtones du Traité no4. Le projet met en vedette des artistes autochtones de premier plan qui prendront part à des ateliers, projections, tables rondes et présentations sur le thème de l’art public, de la réconciliation, des relations interculturelles et de la commémoration nationale.
