Like hitting ‘shuffle’ on your digital music device, Edition Addition 2 offers a serendipitous scrolling cross section of the nearly 1,000 prints in our vault, including works by Andy Warhol, Mary Pratt and Shuvinai Ashoona.

Picking up where the first Edition Addition left off last year, this exhibition features prints with edition numbers starting sequentially from “31” to “51”. The edition number is a simple piece of information. It tells you how many copies there are in the edition and to which it belongs. At the same time, the edition number is a bit of a paradox — a unique identification tag for something that is not unique — highlighting the paradox of the fine art print: it is both an original and a copy. Sitting somewhere between a unique art object and a mass produced poster, the fine art print is a happy medium offering everyone access to the thrill of collecting art.

Organized by the MacKenzie Art Gallery with the support of the Canada Council for the Arts, Saskculture, the Saskatchewan Arts Board, the City of Regina, and the University of Regina.
