What can one make of the nature of their surroundings?

As it Unfolds meditates on ways artists seek and capture the essence of their immediate environment. With a rich selection of recent acquisitions to the MacKenzie Art Gallery’s Permanent Collection from the past five years, this multi-media exhibition showcases diverse approaches, formats, and innovations in depictions of nature, landscapes, and the built environment.

“As it unfolds” functions here as a prologue which introduces a selection of sceneries that we have been yearning to revisit. MacKenzie visitors are invited to linger at each artwork a little bit longer, to stare a little bit more attentively, and to immerse themselves in specific places and times as they unfolded themselves to the artists.

Each week, an extensive description of each artwork in the exhibition will be made available online to help visitors to learn more about intention behind each piece.
