Motion
21 January 2017 – 22 May 2017
Motion - Curated by La Fabrique d’expositions, Montréal
January 21 - May 22, 2017
Motion brings together the work of eleven leading Québec video artists in a group exhibition based on the theme of "motion". Understood in two senses – as movement and as a proposal – Motion considers the meaning of the word as both the energy that activates as well as the principle that motivates with works by Jean-Pierre Aubé, Patrick Bernatchez, BGL, Caroline Boileau, Michel de Broin, Pascal Grandmaison, Nelson Henricks, Myriam Laplante, Eduardo Menz, Nadia Myre, and Chih-Chien Wang.
The exhibition title’s double raison d'être initiates a series of events and actions in the works exhibited, that are, by turns, absurd and surprising, contemplative and meditative – drawing the viewer’s attention to global issues around food and energy production, destruction and death, nourishment and survival. The motion at the intersection of these inescapable realities is explored and expressed by these artists and their observations of today's world.
