Weekly We Make: Artist Workshop with Larissa Kitchemonia
STUDIO ACTIVITY
Join artist Larissa Kitchemonia for an afternoon of beading in celebration of the exhibition Beads in the Blood / mīgisak mīgohk: A Ruth Cuthand Retrospective on view until 28 March 2025.
Participants will learn to lane/flat bead stitch their own velcro pin with a microscopic image of the COVID-19 virus, inspired by Ruth Cuthand’s extensive body of work.

It’s an art party! Weekly We Make at the MacKenzie Art Gallery, presented by Canada Life, is an opportunity for individuals and families to drop in and create artwork.

Visit our studio to make art with Gallery Educators and guest artists, exploring new and beloved techniques and art materials.
There is no cost to attend these drop-in sessions. All materials are provided.
About the Facilitator
Larissa Kitchemonia is an Anishnaabe-Saulteaux woman from The Key First Nation, living in Regina, Saskatchewan. Her art practice primarily focuses on painting and beadwork along with exploring installation and sculpture. Larissa was taught bead working from her Maternal Coco (Grandmother) and has been beading for over several years. Recently she has named her beadwork practice, Āpihci kihci-kēkộ Beadwork which translates to: “Really Great Beadwork” in the Sautleaux language.
