Weekly We Make: Artist Workshop with Larissa Kitchemonia

STUDIO ACTIVITY

About the Facilitator

Larissa Kitchemonia is an Anishnaabe-Saulteaux woman from The Key First Nation, living in Regina, Saskatchewan. Her art practice primarily focuses on painting and beadwork along with exploring installation and sculpture. Larissa was taught bead working from her Maternal Coco (Grandmother) and has been beading for over several years. Recently she has named her beadwork practice, Āpihci kihci-kēkộ Beadwork which translates to: “Really Great Beadwork” in the Sautleaux language.

Inside a tent set up on the grass, a lively artist workshop unfolds. People sit around a table, immersed in arts and crafts. One person stands observing their progress. Supplies and drinks are scattered across the table, while blue folding chairs surround them.
