About the Activity

In the wake of Slow Art Day 2025 on April 5th, we invite you to sketch in the galleries! Additionally, we welcome you to consider taking time to follow the instructions on slowartday.com including:

  1. Look at 5 pieces of art slowly.
  2. Have lunch with someone to discuss your experience.

Studio Activity

STEP 1

Grab a clipboard, some paper and a pencil from the supply cart.  

STEP 2

Take a look around the galleries.  

STEP 3

Select something you see, something you imagine, or some combination of the two.  

STEP 4

Draw! 

Important Words 

Gallery: A room, a space, or an area for displaying art.

Sketch: A simple drawing. Can be the first part of a long-term project, or a small part of a large project.

Things to think about

  • How does sketching help you to slow down?
  • What are you looking at while you sketch?
  • How will your sketches play a part in a larger or long-term project?
  • Would you like guidance or feedback on your sketches?
  • Who will you share your sketches with?
