The LOOK Program provides individuals living with mental health challenges an opportunity to express themselves creatively by making films in a safe, fun, and supportive environment.
This RIFFA initiative recently guided a cohort of 10 students through an immersive curriculum of classroom lectures and hands-on camera workshops. Throughout the program, industry professionals volunteered their time to teach and mentor students as they brought their unique visions to life. The resulting deeply moving student productions explore a wide array of personal and societal topics, including sexual abuse, cognitive disorders, institutionalization, societal expectations, artistic expression, and recovery.
This upcoming screening marks the official world premiere of these powerful short films.
The MacKenzie Art Gallery is proud to support LOOK in partnership with RIFFA. This collaboration unites our organizations to amplify diverse voices, foster community wellness through contemporary art, and create accessible spaces where underrepresented stories can be safely shared.
