Illness as Image, Rupture, and Narrative Break: A Workshop with Maia Stark
About
This workshop explores illness as something that disrupts our linear narrative—breaking time, memory, and, often, identity into fragments. Drawing on historical and folkloric understandings of illness as a curse, invasion, transformation, or test, participants will work with automatic writing and image-making to explore how illness can be represented.
Rather than asking participants to depict illness directly, the workshop uses disassembly and recombination as a way to approach experiences that resist clear explanation.
