About
ABOUT THE SERIES
MacKenzie Art Gallery and Remai Modern come together to present a four-day gathering that reflects on contemporary art rooted in the rich and layered narratives of the Great Plains. Through exhibitions, thoughtful panel discussions, and opportunities for community engagement, we aim to increase knowledge exchange, collaboration, and solidarity with one another.
Informed by themes of movement, borders, and migration, and guided by the impetus to bring to light narratives that have long been overlooked, the series centres the voices of marginalized and racialized communities. Taking the form of exhibitions, conversations, performances and more, this forum offers space for reflection through renewed relationships with each other and the land.
By re-stitching the Plains region together and highlighting the ways people have always been connected in this place, the Great Plains becomes a gathering force—a witness and participant, shaped by the stories it holds.
