Erroll will share stories about his life experiences in the Arts and how they led him to be a part of significant events, such as the American Indian Movement (AIM) in 1973, the Occupation of Wounded Knee, and a conference addressing Discrimination Against Indigenous People in the Western Hemisphere, in Geneva, Switzerland.
Erroll will premiere a newly created mini-documentary on some of his life and work as an artist. Erroll will speak about his art in relation to Activism and Resistance. He will utilize spoken word, drumming, and guitar to present a synopsis of the life of Resistance in the Performing Arts.
PERFORMER BIO
Erroll Kinistino is a celebrated Saulteaux Treaty Indian artist and cultural ambassador, holding membership in the Ochapowace First Nation near Broadview, Saskatchewan. Born in Whitewood, Saskatchewan, he was raised amidst the rich histories of the Qu’Appelle Valley in Southeast Saskatchewan. Kinistino’s multifaceted career as an actor, musician, master of ceremonies, and community elder spans more than five decades, during which he has consistently championed Indigenous voices and nurtured emerging talent.
