The MacKenzie Art Gallery and Ender Gallery are pleased to present the public exhibition of their first Minecraft digital artist-in-residence. Cat Haines’ (g)Ender Gallery is an installation and performance series on the Gallery’s Minecraft server. Over the course of her residency, Haines constructed digital representations of her body block-by-block, creating an ironic and playful transfeminist intervention into yonic art canon. Through theoretical research and autotheoretical praxis, Haines explored the possibilities of queer and trans intimacies in digital spaces.
The Gallery invites you to experience the exhibition first-hand through a public opening event on the server. Audience members will require a licensed copy of Minecraft (Java edition) and a corresponding Minecraft account to join the server.
Instruction on how to join available here.
The opening event will also be livestreamed to the MacKenzie Art Gallery’s social media, including its Facebook, YouTube, and Twitch accounts, which are viewable without a Minecraft account.
Audience members requesting accessibility accommodations are encouraged to email cbluemke@mackenzie.art for more information.
Content Notice: This exhibition discusses multiple expressions of gender and sexuality. Audiences can expect Minecraft representations of nudity.
